Code of Ethics

By Bill Gelwick, AJ (Average Joe).

Operating with Ethics is of the utmost importance to me. Yes, I use the moniker “Average Joe”, but not as a mask to hide behind. Think of it as more of a title. I don’t possess a PHD or other advanced degree that carries a set of letters after my name. As a matter of fact, that is the very essence of the Average Joe. Most people do not possess such specialized knowledge.

I know some people have an issue with sharing too much personal information with the public, and I appreciate that. There are also folks out there who are obligated to stay anonymous for one reason or another, usually contractual obligations. But, there are those who will use such a moniker to shield them from accountability. You see this a lot on social media. They will create an account under an assumed name which gives them license to do virtually anything they want without fear of personal retribution.

Here at averagejoebook.com we believe in transparency. I have to maintain a certain buffer level for the security of my family, but I do not shy away from contact and I am completely accessible via all sorts of social media channels. Simply do a Google search for my name and you can find about anything you could want to know.

Social

The Facebook and Twitter accounts listed in the header and footer here are the official ones attached to this website, but my personal ones are available also.

Facebook

Twitter

Feel free to add me at either, and call me out if you disagree or feel I’m out of bounds. I’m a big boy, I can take it.

My Sincere Desire to Entertain You

Yes, I share opinions here.

Yes, I realize many of them are polarizing.

Yes, I am okay with this.

My hope is that you understand, whether you agree or not, that the entertainment value is what is important here. Sure, if I can prompt someone to put down the Kool Aid, think for his/her self, and not be a “Sheeple”, then that’s great. But the #1 motivation here is to entertain. If you get a chuckle out of one of my posts, then my mission is accomplished.

Best Practices

As for how I run my site, I am straight forward about my intentions. The hope is that you will be so entertained by the free content I provide that maybe you will be so inclined as to purchase one of the electronic books I have available on Amazon. If not, that’s fine too. I’m happy to have you be a reader of the blog, or listener of the podcast. So please visit my author page on Amazon to see what titles are currently available.

I do ask you to subscribe to my mailing list as well. This is simply so that I may notify you when I release the next volume of the book series, or when I feel there is something else of urgency. I typically do not email notify of new blog posts or podcast episodes, although that may come soon. If I do, I may decide to break that out into a separate list only for those who want that level of notification.

I don’t even have a newsletter. In fact, if you ever get two emails from me in a month, that will be a high volume month for me. I don’t like my inbox bombarded, and I don’t want to do it to you.

 Values

My value system is pretty simple. If it goes against biblical truth, then it is against my values. I will be honest with you and up front in everything that I do. I have a genuine love for people, even when it doesn’t show while I’m calling them out on their behavior.

These are but a few of the promises I make to all who stop by:

  • I always want to offer extreme value anytime I ask you to spend a dime with me.
  • I will never SPAM you, or sell your email address to anyone else.
  • I will not bombard your inbox with emails on a daily basis.
  • I will respond to all communications as time allows, be it via email or social channels.
  • I will disclose any and all forms of compensation. If I offer or recommend a product, the assumption is that there is an affiliate commission attached to it unless stated otherwise.
  • I will never suggest anything that I do not personally feel will be of benefit to you.

I want to be up front an honest with you, and I expect the same from others.

Nicely said Joe, your Code of Ethics is right on. I feel the same way. You can find my information helpful, find me on the net or social sites and the bottom line is see what I have to offer to help you.

In your case it’s your books.

Your article is straight to the point.
